Reports said that police recovered the body of Shabir Ahmad Wani, 45, son of Abdul Rehman nearby his under construction house in  Wakilbalan area of Nowgam Shangus. Shabir had left home to see the construction on Sunday evening and his body was recovered early on Monday morning. He was apparently killed with an axe, a police officer said, adding that a case has been registered and investigation taken up to unearth those involved in the murder. “it would be premature to say whether he was killed by militants. We are investigating the case and will find out the guilty”, he said when asked whether hand of militants was suspected in the killing.
Couple of days ago, a PDP worker was killed in the district and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the killing as dastardly act. Huriyat Conference also condemned the killing and termed it against the basic principles of humanity. “Every human life is priceless no matter to which political ideology a person belongs to,” Hurriyat Conference had said.
