Srinagar: Ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party leader and its member parliament Muzaffar Hussain Beigh has wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become leader of the next millennium.
Addressing a function, organised in honour of BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on becoming vice president of India, Beigh referred to a couplet by Robert Frost, the American poet: “Good fences make good neighbours but something there is that doesn’t love a wall,” and wished that “all walls within our hearts fall and we truly feel that we belong to one mother India.”
“Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Kashmir, Sikkim, they make good fences and there is something, the humanity in us, does not love a wall. A mother has many children and our mother is one. I have one name, other has different name, colour but our mother India loves us all. She doesn’t differentiates among any of her child and we should be thankful to Bhagwan, Ishwar, Parmatpa, Allah, Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha, Jains, those who have come with holy message that in the history of India, a new and modern journey has started after independence and to lead it, Modiji (Nadrendra Modi) has been chosen. It’s God’s choice,” Beigh said.
“The way Mahatma Gandhi, who to my understanding was conferred with the title of Man of the millennium, the best person to have lived on earth in thousand years, people like Einstein, Newton, Napoleon, Lincoln came and I feel if we all work together with Modiji, he will man of the next millennium.”
He also prayed that “these little walls in our hearts, through your (Modi’s) leadership, fall and we truly feel that we belong to one mother India. We should act in such manner that motherland India should be proud of us. Today there are clouds all around us but hope that in next ten to fifteen years, we will be the leaders of the world.”
