SRINAGAR: With the state-of-art facilities including auditorium and conference hall having been established at Media Complex Srinagar, Director Information and Public Relations, Muneer-ul-Islam today said the facility will come up as hub of cultural and intellectual discourses.

Speaking during a musical tribute ‘Ba Yaad-e-Ghulam Nabi Sheikh’ – Remembering Legacy, concert here, the Director Information said the artists in Kashmir lack ambient places where they could sit, share and exhibit the talent in their respective fields of art.

“It is important to respect and preserve treasured cultural legacy of Kashmir,” he said and added that while everyone is moving forward in today’s rapidly modernizing world, there is a greater responsibility on the institutions like Radio Kashmir and Department of Information to be the facilitators of change.

The Director on the occasion shared that all the possible measures are underway to bring more vibrancy into the department from its presentation point of view. “My dream is to see this department becoming hub of socio-cultural and intellectual activities,” he said.

The Director said there has been no let up in Department’s efforts at promoting several art forms, however much more is to be done in this regard.

He said the Department is aiming to organize several events including exhilarations and cultural exchanges and intellectual debates. He said the Department would soon organize an event in which historical work of prominent cartoonist of the State Bashir Ahmad Bashir would be showcased.

“We are also aiming to organize several discussions and debates by engaging noted media personalities which will benefit our journalist fraternity too,” he said.
