Srinagar: A policeman was Wednesday shot dead by unidentified militants in Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The slain cop according to KNS correspondent was identified as Gowhar Ahmad Tantray, son of Nazir Ahmad Tantray of Kujjar village of Kulgam.
Sources said that the slain policeman was posted with Special Operations Group (SOG) in Shopian.
They said that the unidentified gunmen opened fire at him near Kanjikulla Bridge when he was riding a motorcyle.
He was shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
However, there was no official confirmation regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, sources said that the manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers. (KNS)
