Sopore: A Kashmiri youth whose gun-wielding photograph went viral on social media has been arrested by police from North Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baraulla district.
Police said that guy was arrested during a checking at Naka near Frunit Mandi Crossing in Sopore that was laid jointly by 22 Rashtriya Rifles, 179 Battalion CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police.
“We recovered a pistol from his possession,” said a police official to news agency CNS and identified him as Basit Najar of Sopore Town.
The police official claimed that Basit during questioning revealed that he along with his associate namely Danish Mantoo of Sopore had recently joined LeT outfit.
The pictures of Basit Najar holding a pistol recently surfaced on social networking websites.
“FIR number 297/2016 under sections 147, 148, 149, 149, 336 RPC and FIR No. 231/2016 under sections 147, 148, 149, 149, 336 RPC already stand registered against him in Police Station Sopore,” said the official. (CNS)
