Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday ruled out international intervention in Kashmir, saying that India and Pakistan can resolve the issue bilaterally.
According to KNS correspondent, Mehbooba, on the sidelines of the inaugural function here at Anantnag said, “What is the situation in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq today? Does Farooq sahab want same situation in Kashmir?”
Mehbooba was reacting to the statement made by National conference NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah wherein he had said that India needs to take help from the US or China to settle the Kashmir problem.
“(US President Donald) Trump himself has said he wants to settle the Kashmir problem. We didn’t tell him. Even China said they want to mediate on Kashmir. You have to use someone for the talks,” Abdullah had said.
While rejecting the US and Chinese intervention to mediate in Kashmir issue, Mehbooba said that those two foreign nations should “mind their own business.”
“Let China and America mind their own business. The issues between India and Pakistan can be resolved through talks,” she said, adding that “our elderly leaders including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Indira Gandhi have shown us a path to resolve the issue.”
She added that “The foreign countries don’t need to mediate in Kashmir issue as we have Lahore declaration, Shimla agreement, which would help us to resolve the issue.”
Meanwhile, Mehbooba said that the completion of developmental works is getting delayed due to the end of government tenure. “Now, we have made it necessary to complete the projects in the given time and in case the project will not be completed, the steps will be taken accordingly,”
Chief Minister said that the developmental losses suffered in 2016 will be compensated in this year.
She further hailed the support of people of Anantnag and said “the people here have always extended their support to me.” (KNS)
