Poonch The Indian and Pakistan armies on Tuesday yet again traded fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimbher Gali sector and Poonch.
An army soldier was killed in sniper fire from Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
An official said that the soldier, belonging to 17 Infantry Brigade, was hit by sniper fire while he was on duty at Sangam post.
Reports said that at least one Indian soldier was also wounded in the Pakistan firing.
A Defense official said that India retaliated with full force. An official said that Lance Naik Navjot Singh of 581 Artillery Regiment was hit by splinters in his eye at Sabra Gali in Mendhar sector.
He said that wounded soldier has been shifted to hospital for treatment.
An soldier and a minor girl were killed on Tuesday while four persons injured in heavy firing and mortar shelling by the Pakistan Army along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, Rajouri and Baramulla districts.
As the border tension raged, the Directors General of Military Operation (DGMO) of India and Pakistan spoke over the hotline to diffuse the tension.
Heavy Shelling was reported in various villages of Nowshera sector including Bhawani, Sair and Kadali villages.Students were trapped in 3 schools.
Official press note of administration mentions that at Middle School Sair 12 students were rescued meanwhile nearly 50 students are trapped amid heavy Shelling at High School Sair.
“Three bullet proof bunkers were inducted for evacuation however with no relief in shelling the rescue is on standby. Around 150 students at High School Bhawani were advised to stayed back where Officers of local administration and Police are stationed ” press note mentions.
It also adds that Refreshment was provided to students however rescue operation is held up. Students in Bhawani are safe.
DC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and SSP Yougal Manhas rushed to spot for coordination of rescue and relief. Addl SP Atul Sharma and SDM Harbans Lal are also camping at Bhawani. Three buses have been rushed to Kalsian for evacuation while 2 bullet proof vehicles deputed. (CNS)
