Poonch: An army man was killed as Pakistan violated ceasefire and resorted to firing on Indian posts along Line of Control in Manjkote sector of Rajouri district.
“Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army’s Cheel post at Manjkote in Rajouri sector at around 1330h today. Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively,” a defence spokesman said.
In the fire exchange, Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries, he said. “Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer aged 35 years, belonged to Village Ajout, Tehsil Haveli, Poonch, J&K and is survived by his wife Wasim Akhtar,” the spokesman said.
He said that Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer was a brave and sincere soldier. “He loved his job to the core. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” the defence spokesman added.(GNS)
