SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health, Medical Education and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash today conducted a surprise visit to the Government Psychiatric Disease Hospital, Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, Srinagar to assess the facilities being provided to the patients there and inspect its functioning.
The Minister went around the hospital premises to inspect the patient-care facilities and the condition of sanitation in and around the hospital. She inspected kitchen, laboratory sections, sanitation unit and different wards of the mental care centre.
She also visited Doctor’s hostel, staff quarters and took stock of the newly built block at the hospital constructed under National Mental Health Program.
Ms. Naqash also interacted with the patients to know about their well being. She sought details of the facilities they receive from the hospital authorities.
While taking stock of hospital kitchen, she asked the hospital administration to ensure that the food given to the patients is cooked and served in hygienic conditions. She directed the concerned to put in extra efforts for proper sanitation in the hospital premises.
She also directed the hospital staff to treat the patients with extra care and affection for their speedy rehabilitation.
Later, the hospital authorities apprised the Minister about the overall functioning of the health centre and measures needed to further augment its infra and other health facilities.
Ms. Naqash assured said that every possible help would be extended to the hospital by the Government for the hospital’s smooth functioning.
The Minister impressed upon the hospital administration and doctors to work with dedication to serve the patients in a professional manner.
Medical Superintendent, doctors, hospital staff and other concerned accompanied the Minister.
