Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Thursday clarified that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders including its Secretary Public Relations Altaf Ahmed Shah, District President Srinagar, Raja Meraj-u-Din and Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar have been taken under preventive custody vide section 107 and 151 and handed over to police after proper remand obtained from a magistrate.
According to Hurriyat, the news published in print media on June 29th was not carried in its right context, instead misinterpreted thus created some misinterpretation and misunderstandings.
One of the Hurriyat spokesman said that in the first week of June, the Indian Investigation Agency (NIA) raided residences of Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Meraj u Din and Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and added that after day long searches, nothing objectionable or any amount was recovered from their custody during search operations.
Hurriyat (G) said that despite nothing objectionable was found, Altaf Ahmad Shah was again summoned on June 9th and cross-examined till June 23rd by NIA and added that during this period, the investigative agency did not find any evidence or any trace about their alleged involvement .
Hurriyat Conference (G) said that NIA on 28th June again summoned Altaf Ahmad Shah to Delhi while as Raja Meraj u Din was served with a notice from said agency.
In response to summons issued from NIA, both leaders had booked their tickets with Indigo Airlines and were about to leave for Delhi on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am, however, on Monday 27th June, the state police arrested Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Meraj u Din and Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar and were taken under preventive custody, after police produced them before a magistrate and obtained proper remand, added Hurriyat.
Hurriyat (G) said that due to their detention and being in police custody, both could not leave Delhi on June 28th as proposed and are still in police custody somewhere at unknown destination. (KNS)
