Bloody June: 42 persons lose life in Kashmir

Srinagar: During the current month 42 persons including 27 militants have been killed in more than 13 militancy related incidents in Kashmir Valley.
Police sources reveal that in the first three weeks of the current month June this year, 27 militants, 8 policemen, 6 civilians and an army soldier have fallen prey to bullets in different parts of Kashmir Valley.
The gunfights between militants and the Indian troopers rocked in many parts of Valley including Nithipora and Pazalpora areas of Apple town Sopore in Baramulla district, Arwani Bijbehara in Anantnag, Sumbal area of Bandipora district and Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. In these fights 10 local and 4 non-local militants were neutralized by Indian Defense Forces. Besides these major gun fights, there were multiple skirmishes that were reported between militants and Indian troopers across Kashmir.
Besides, army this month claimed that it gunned down 13 militants in different sectors including Uri and Nawgam along Line of Control. “These militants were neutralized while they tried to infiltrate into this part of Kashmir. During such operations, we lost a soldier as well,” said a Defense official.
Some of the local militants killed during the current month were Basharat Sheikh of Bomai, Ajaz Ahmed Mir and Gulzar Ahmed both residents of Brat Kalan Sopore, and Basit Ahmed of Indergam Pattan, Juanid Matoo, Azad Malik, Mauhammad Shakir, Majid Hamid Mir of Kakapora and Shabir Ahmed Dar of Padgampora area of Awantipora in the Pulwama district.
Besides the death of 27 militants, six civilians were also killed in the bloody month of June. Adil Ahmed of Ganowapora village of Shopian district, Naseer Ahmed of North Kashmir’s Banidpora district, Muhammad Ashraf Khar and a little student Ahsan Dar both residents of Kharpora and Shamsipora Arwani Bijbehara and Touseef Ahmed Wani, a resident of Tengpuna Pulwama were either consumed by pellets or bullets fired by government forces while a civilian Ajaz Ahmed affiliated with Indian political party Janata Dal United was shot dead by suspected militants in Pinglina area of Pulwama district.
During the current month 8 policemen including an officer were killed in different militant attacks. Militants shot dead a policeman Shabir Ahmed at Bogund Kulgam while another cop was killed in Hyderpora attack. Six policemen including SHO Achabal Police Station Feroz Ahmed Dar were killed in a deadly militant attack on June 16 this month. (CNS)
