Srinagar: Senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz Monday said that I heartily welcome the statement made by senior Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani that there was no threat to Amarnath Yatra as the pilgrims happened to be “Our Guests”.
In a statement to KNS, he said that what Geelani Saheb has said with emphasis is the feeling of the general run of Kashmiris.
“I have a feeling of relief in my mind that in spite of obnoxious vilification of Kashmiris by the short-sighted and deeply sectarian and parochial elements in India’s Civil Society, the Kashmiris stand steadfast to what Geelani Saheb has called the ‘Age Old Tradition of showing respect to guests and offering all kind of cordiality and help they need”, Soz said.
“Geelani Saheb’s condemnation of short-sighted elements in India’s Civil Society, represented by a section of electronic media, is also correct”, Soz added.
“On my part, I have tried to warn these elements that through the vilification of Kashmiris, no purpose would be served for the Union of India and this absurd vilification has only been adding to the fire of deep anger and alienation of Kashmiris”, he said.
Soz said that I refused to talk to the ‘Two TV Channels’, today, which are known for vilification of Kashmiris and told them plainly that they were playing a nefarious game which would never yield any advantage to the Union of India.” (KNS)
