Srinagar: Clashes erupted between locals and government forces in several areas of South Kashmir today during which forces allegedly resorted to vandalism.

According to GNS, clashes broke out in Turkwangam village of Shopian district after youth pelted stones on forces patrol party. The forces retaliated by firing some teargas canisters. The clashes continued for nearly an hour in the village.

Reports said the clashes also erupted at Naarpora village of Shopian after forces patrolling party entered into village and was stoned by local youth. The clashes in the area continued for more than hour and locals alleged that the government forces damaged the property of inhabitants including vehicles.  Reports of minor clashes were also received from Pulwama Town and a shutdown was observed in Yaripora area of Kulgam district against the alleged highhandedness of forces.
