Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) strongly condemned the use of excessive forces against civilians and ransacking of properties, smashing vehicles during massive crackdown in Vheil Shopian and said that authorities have let loose the reign of terror and instead of making these elements accountable for their wrongdoings, they are being encouraged.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) blamed authorities for declaring war on civilians and said that they as mute spectators have vested unbridled powers in forces and thus feel unaccountable for their wrongdoings.
Statement said that people of Shopian in a telephonic message to Hurriyat office divulged about the incident and said that government forces on Monday night vandalized dozens of shops and vehicles in Vheil village of Shopian after locals burst a few firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Champions Trophy.
Reports reveal that the forces in a nearby camp stormed the village as if they were in a battlefield facing an enemy force, said Hurriyat Conference (G). They raided each household and caught hold of inmates, thrashed them ruthlessly. The locals accused forces for manhandling civilians and said that during raids they smashed window pans and vehicles also.
The nightmare ended in wee hours and it looked as if village was subjected to aerial bombardment, said Hurriyat.
Hurriyat Conference (G) strongly denounced the bullying saying this sheer lawlessness illustrates the egoistic and autocratic behavior of state authorities and added that forces feel free and unaccountable since Major Googoi was awarded for tying Farooq Ahmad Dar was used as human shield.
Spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that celebrating Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Champions Trophy is not legally any offence, as people love Pakistan for its moral and political support to Kashmir cause and moreover Pakistan is a center of hope for all muslims across the globe.
Ridiculing state authorities for their criminal silence, spokesman said that they least care about woes facing civilians and have bartered their ethics for pay & perks. They are shameless lot, said spokesman and they didn’t even feel their moral obligation to safeguard lives and dignity of civilians. Their conscience is lost and with the reason they do not dare to speak out their inner, said spokesman.
Hurriyat Conference (G) also strongly denounced police authorities for subjecting youth to harsh treatment and said that youth within the jurisdiction of police station Nowhata, Maharaj Gunj, Safakadal, and Khanyar are being summoned on every Friday and Sunday in police station and subjected to humiliation.
Hurriyat (G) strongly condemned police authorities for their highhandedness and ridiculing police for its “heartless approach”, Hurriyat said that it is injustice that youth of the area are unnecessarily summoned and subjected to humiliation. They are deliberately adding fuel to fire and pushing youth to wall, said Hurriyat.
It is illogical and unjustified said Hurriyat and police in a bid to pressurize and terrorize youth have pasted their photo’s in police station thus developing psychological pressure on youth.
Hurriyat (G) said that families of these youth disclosed that even after getting bail from judiciary, youths are often summoned by these police stations.
Hurriyat Conference (G) warned authorities of dire consequences if this practice is not stopped forthwith.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani expressed his dep grief over the demise of aunt of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who passed away in Islam Abad Pakistan.
Syed Ali Geelani expressed heartfelt condolences and solidarity with Mirwaiz Sahib and his bereaved family. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. (KNS)
