Srinagar: Police Thursday said that the cop who was missing for the last few days has been murdered by an SPO who was accompanying him to Kupwara where the duo had dropped a relative of the dead cop in Kupwara.
Addressing a press conference here, DIG Central Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Bhat said that police has solved two cases and arrested four persons responsible for these crimes.
Bhat said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted under the directions of SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray solved the case of Constable Sameer Ji Kumar by arresting an SPO involved in his murder.
According to KNS correspondent, Bhat said that during the course of investigation the SPO identified as Ajaz Ahmad confessed that during their visit to Pahalgam on previous night Constable Sameer Ji had resorted to un-natural sexual act with him while they were in Pahalgam and also threatened him that he will disclose it to their colleagues. In order to protect himself from social stigma he made up his mind to kill Ct Sameer Ji.
“He further confessed his crime of killing Ct. Sameer Ji in Yansu while returning from Kupwara and to dispose off the body threw it in Pohru river. On his disclosure the stone used in crime, Car bearing registration number JK04A-4981, Shirt and Trouser were recovered and seized. A case under section 302 RPC was registered and investigation was taken up.”
Meanwhile, another case was solved by Police Station Soura in which a complaint was received from a lady Yasmina Kouser and stated that her husband Mehraj-ud-din Mir son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir resident of Channpora Balochipora, Soura was attacked/assaulted by some unknown persons, injuring him seriously.
“He was rushed to SKIMS, Soura hospital for treatment. Accordingly a case FIR number 22/2017 under section 307 RPC was registered and investigation was set into motion.”
“During the preliminary investigation, it came to fore that there were multiple property disputes between Altaf Ahmad Rather, Ishfaq Ahmad Rather sons of Ghulam Rasool Rather and Ghulam Rasool Rather resident of Channpora Balochipora with the victim.”
“The investigations further revealed that Altaf Ahmad Rather, his brother and his father hatched a conspiracy to kill Mehraj-ud-Din Mir. On 7th of May 2017, when Mehraj-Ud-Din Mir left from his home at around 8:52 AM, Altaf Ahmad followed him in his Mahindra Thar vehicle bearing registration number JK01W-6789. Mehraj-ud-Din while coming back to home was hit by Altaf with his vehicle with the intention to kill him.”
“All the three accused persons were arrested and are under judicial remand. The vehicle used for the crime was also seized,” Bhat said. (KNS)
