Naeem Akhter stresses for time-bound completion of road projects

Srinagar: Minister for Public Works (R&B), Naeem Akhtar today convened a high level meeting of officers to review the progress of various road projects under Central Road Fund (CRF) scheme.
Vice-Chairman, JKPCC, Khalid Jehangir, Commissioner Secretary Public Works (R&B) Sanjeev Verma, Secretary Technical Public Works (R&B), Chief Engineer R&B, MD JKPCC and other senior officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that 150 projects were sanctioned under CRF in 2015-16 out of which 71 have been completed while works on remaining 79 projects is in progress.
It was given out in the meeting that, 72 new projects at an estimated cost of Rs 1019 crore are at tendering stage and the execution on these projects will be started soon.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed to expedite the pace of work on the ongoing projects for early completion. He said these projects need to be taken on priority and any bottlenecks hindering the progress should be removed on priority.
The Minister asked the concerned officers to regularly monitor these projects and ensure quality for creating durable assets for the people of the state. He also called for inclusion of public during the execution process so that there will be a monitoring mechanism to check the quality of the works especially the material being used in the works.
Akthar also asked the concerned to reach out to the people and sensitize them about the programmes implemented by the government so that they can avail maximum benefits of these programs.
