Srinagar: The civil society group from New Delhi which is on a visit to Kashmir valley is scheduled to meet Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Thursday to discuss the prevailing situation and holding of dialogue with the centre for resolution of the Kashmir issue.
The group comprising of senior Congress leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar, and other civil society activists will meet the Hurriyat (G) chairman at his residence tomorrow.
The meeting assumes significance after the group insisted on the Government of India to hold dialogue with Pakistan and Hurriyat leaders for resolution of Kashmir issue at a seminar organised yesterday by the O P Shah’s Centre for Peace and Progress at Grand Mumtaz hotel here.
Pertinently, the Hurriyat had met earlier the group led by former BJP minister, Yashwant Sinha at his residence during 2016 uprising but had refused to meet the members of the All Party Delegation from New Delhi.
Confirming the proposed meeting, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar told KNS that the group will meet the chairman tomorrow. (KNS)
