SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, carried out an extensive tour of Srinagar City during night hours on Monday to take stock of the functioning of street lights and electricity supply position on the eve of holy month of Ramdhaan.
During his visit, the Divisional Commissioner visited Dalgate, Nawpora, Kohnakhan, Khayam, Munawarabad, Baba-Demb, Khanyar, Fateh Kadal, Zaldagar, Nawab Bazaar, Kaksarai, Karan Nagar, Qamarwari, Parimpora, JVC, Bemina, Moominabad, Batamaloo, New Secretariat and Jehangir Chowk to assess the functioning of street lights and electricity supply.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer PDD Shahnaz Goni, Joint Commissioner SMC, Enforcement officers of SMC and other officials accompanied the Divisional Commissioner during the evening tour.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the authorities to install lights on main roads wherever necessary at the earliest, besides repair the defunct lights for the convenience of the commuters. He asked them to ensure that street lights near Masjids be made functional.
Khan asked the officers of the PDD to put in their sincere efforts in rendering their services.
He also directed the SMC officers to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worships.
