Tanvir invited for the Indian Politicians visit to UK

Srinagar: Tanvir Sadiq, NC leader and Political secretary to Omar Abdullah has been invited by the British High Commission for the “Indian politicians visit to the UK” from May 14 to 20, 2017.
He is amongst the 12-member delegation comprising leaders cutting across party lines. Prof Abhishek Mishra, former minister in Uttar Pradesh. Ashish Shelar, MLA from Maharashtra, as well as the president of the BJP’s Mumbai unit. Mahua Moitra, Member of the West Bengal Assembly and General Secretary, Trinamool Congress Party Jaivardhan Singh, Member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Indian National Congress Party Dr Ashok Lahoty, Mayor of Jaipur City, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) . Angad Singh, Member Punjab Assembly, Indian National Congress Party are some of the other leaders in the list of invitees.
The visits objective is to deepen the delegates’ understanding of the UK. British politics, domestic policy priorities, foreign policy, and trade and investment ambitions. The delegation will be meeting senior UK government figures, academicians, business groups and politicians.
Tanvir said that the Parliamentary system of Government which provides for constitutional head of the state and also real head of the Government is an import from Great Britain.
The Indian Constitution has been much inspired by the British constitutional practice. Our long association with the British administration has made us to adopt parliamentary democracy and rule of law in our constitutional system. So in a way to will be important and great learning experience to witness all this.
These meetings have been carefully planned to ensure that the delegation gets an in-depth idea of the challenges faced in policy matters and how best they can be bypassed. (KNS)
