Srinagar: Terming the ban on almost three dozen TV Channels in Kashmir after banning the Social Networking Sites, as fascist approach of the government, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the real purpose behind all these actions is to isolate the Kashmiri population as the authorities do not want the reality of Kashmir to be highlighted internationally and does not want people of Kashmir to have access to information other than what Govt. of India filters into Kashmir through its state and cooperate run media.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz said that it is beyond comprehension that how channels preaching Islamic teachings and values are responsible for spreading unrest in Kashmir, whereas the fact remains that the current unrest and uprising in Kashmir is because of the political instability and anti-people policies and dictatorial approach of the rulers of Delhi and their local collaborators towards the people of Kashmir.
Mirwaiz said that the restriction on Social Media and TV channels in Kashmir have been imposed on behest of the communal forces of India and cautioned that these restrictions, can further deteriorate the situation here.
Mirwaiz said that in the modern times this type of thinking and such tactics of oppression reflect authoritarian mindset. He said a war has already been started against the people of Kashmir at all levels and the gagging of Media to prevent the reality from reaching the world will also prove a failure like such other oppressive acts have proven so far.
In the meantime rich tributes were paid to the martyrs of Khanyar Srinagar on their 27th anniversary at martyrs graveyard Khanyar in a prayer meeting which was attended by many Hurriyat leaders and activist including Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Sufi Mushtaq Ahmad, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Peer Ghulam Nabi, Habib ul Rangrez, Mohd Syed Dedmari, Farooq Ahmad Matoo, M.Y Masoodi and a large number of people.
Meanwhile Hurriyat (M) Spokesman has termed the wanton use of inhuman and brutal force including tear gas shells and pellets against the students in Budgam, Pulwama, Qalamabad Langate, Srinagar, Zainakote and Tral as the worst form of state terrorism, the APHC has sternly condemned the state for using such inhuman means to crush the student protests in Kashmir. The spokesman also demanded the immediate release of all arrested students.
